The Money Tree is a lush, tropical beauty famous for its braided trunk and glossy, hand-shaped leaves made of five to seven leaflets (five is said to represent the five elements of feng shui: earth, water, fire, wood, and metal). In many cultures, it’s believed to bring good luck, prosperity, and positive energy — that’s why you see it in homes and businesses everywhere!
Why you love it
- That braided trunk is pure art — it looks like someone spent years training a bonsai, but it grows this way naturally in nurseries.
- It’s practically indestructible. Seriously, it survives neglect like a champion.
- The bright green palmate leaves give instant jungle vibes and make any room feel alive.
- It’s one of the few “lucky” plants that’s also legitimately easy and gorgeous.
Caring Tips (very forgiving)
- Light: Bright indirect light is ideal, but it tolerates medium and even low light beautifully (leaves just get a bit darker). Avoid harsh direct sun.
- Water: Water when the top 2–3 inches of soil feel dry (roughly every 1–2 weeks). It loves to dry out a little between watering. Over watering = yellow leaves, so err on the dry side.
- Humidity: Average home humidity is fine; it’s not fussy. Mist if you want, but not necessary.
